Just to keep the current tax debate in perspective, Hunter Blair makes a case (HERE) that since 1952, corporate profits as a percent of GDP have jumped while corporate tax revenues has dropped. Blair makes a case for why the offshore tax deferral loophole needs to be closed which accounts for a material portion of this tax avoidance. He points out that most of offshore revenue is not earned aboard, but in the US by a foreign subsidiary of a US corporate.
